Here are all of the details on today’s ride:

We had every intention of leaving at 5AM today but Dave and I both had unexpected morning repairs (another flat for Dave and a break lever issue from my bike falling over in the hotel room). We rolled out at 5:40, still before sunrise.

This morning we were treated to a clear sky and full sunrise an hour into our ride

Today’s weather was much friendlier — high of 92 degrees and mixed 5 MPH winds. Kansas, it was fun but I’m not gonna miss you.

Our long journey across the Sunflower State is complete. Hello Show Me state!

Things have gotten greener as we have dropped in elevation and moved into eastern Kansas but the landscape changed dramatically almost the moment we entered Missouri.

Dave (from Utica, NY) and I felt more at home as Missouri greeted us with corn fields and undulating, rolling hills
Toto, I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore

With the long 120 mile day, we decided to load up on a good diner breakfast half way through the ride.

We opted for just regular old bacon and eggs at Judy’s Truck Stop in Jasper.

One unexpected surprise was a really nice bike trail in Willard, just west of Springfield, MO.

Now we get to chill and take a rest in our BNB in Springfield.
